Types of resin

Differences between epoxy resin and UV resin

1. solidification process

  • Epoxy resin: Cures by mixing resin with a hardener (the substance that makes it hard), which requires a curing time (approximately 24 hours)
  • UV resin: Cures by using UV light, which causes the resin to harden immediately upon exposure to UV light.

2. Usage

  • Epoxy resin: Suitable for projects that require strength and durability, such as surface coating, artwork, or repairs.
  • UV resin: Suitable for projects that require speed, such as jewelry making and art that demands high detail.

3. Clarity

  • Epoxy resin: It usually has clarity and gloss, but sometimes it may have air bubbles.
  • UV resin: It tends to be clearer and shinier, and can achieve more detailed results.

4. Working principle

  • Epoxy resin: Needs time for mixing and curing
  • UV resin: Cures instantly when exposed to UV light
